Set to welcome its first guests early February, 2014, Kandolhu is a small lush island ringed by an intricate yet stunning coral garden, well-known amongst snorkelers and divers as one of the best in the Maldives. Intimate and bare, this tiny gem is encircled with wide beaches that are veiled by the emerald green ocean for which the destination is famous for. Located in the heart of the Maldives, in North Ari Atoll, the island can be reached in 20 minutes by seaplane from the airport.
Following an investment of US$ 12 million, this “intimate lifestyle resort” will feature just 30 Villas in 5 different categories on land and over water, each distinct in design and majority with private pools. The villas are scattered around the island on the beach with sea views or set over the water with direct access to the Indian Ocean. All villas feature Maldivian architecture with modern interiors, including furnishing by designer Kenneth Cobonpue, renowned for his signature designs in natural fibres and materials. Modern day luxuries enhance your experience further with creature comforts like i-Pads, Wi-Fi, Bose surround systems and espresso machines. The flooring is by Parador, a company whose wood comes from certified, sustainably managed forests, with details accentuated by design companies such as Bisazza. The outdoor areas of the villas will invite guests to linger by offering select pieces from Rausch Classics.
Though designed to 5 star levels, the resort will put greater focus on giving its guests an ‘island experience’ instead of a typical hotel stay. Small and perfectly formed, this island will give you the real Maldivian experience with no restrictions. Guests can walk around the island barefoot in just minutes and snorkel one of the best house reefs in the Maldives; rich in both coral and fish life, and easily accessible from the island.
You can choose to go on bed and breakfast either in the restaurant or in your own villa and plan your day as you go, or book full-board and have access to the four à la carte restaurants on the island. Alternatively, indulge in luxury- Kandolhu style- by going all-inclusive where you will be set for your entire stay. Adding to the extravagance of dining at our four à la carte restaurants, guests on all inclusive can enjoy a wide range of drinks including spirits, beers, cocktails, fresh juices and a great selection of bottled wines. Also included is an in-villa well-stocked wine cellar with 26 globally accredited wines, each included in the all-inclusive plan. Private dining is also available for guests either on the beach or in your villa.
